The two books in the Teaching the Arts in the Junior School series contain complete arts units that combine the four disciplines (visual arts, drama, music, dance) using learning and teaching approaches that are suitable for the first years of school.
The lessons and activities provided in this resource series cover a wide range of specific skills for each arts discipline. Many of the photocopiable pages provided are also ideal for use as assessment activities for portfolios or student art diaries. Teacher information pages give direction and links to particular arts strands, focusing questions, and how the activity pages can be used.

Activities are also ideal for teachers to use as stand-alone lessons to integrate into the classroom programme where appropriate. Teachers may choose to teach a drama or dance unit which utilises lessons from several different units. Alternatively, teachers may adapt lessons to suit a particular theme or focus in the class. Student activity pages can be enlarged to A3 size posters for the classroom, or for laminating onto A4 cards for use in learning centres.
