Description
It is impossible to separate young children’s LEARNING from their WELL-BEING. Where I Belong is a well-organised resource to promote a sense of belonging for children and their families.
There are 4 sections:
- “I belong where I see familiar things.”
- “I belong where I am cared for by people who know me.”
- “I belong where I feel important.”
- “I belong where I know what to do.”
There are tips for teachers and ideas that are easy to apply.
A Tip: Children learn best when they learn the way they want to – while you can offer suggestions, it is beneficial for the child to decide how they would like to work with the resources you offer them. This can also build self-esteem as all ideas will be right and the child’s ideas and the choice they make will be valued. Anything that builds on a child’s self-esteem will contribute to their sense of belonging. This is just one of many valuable and worthwhile suggestions.
