The Fun with Food programme provides an option for the treatment of selective and total aversive oral eaters. It can be adapted by the clinician to provide one-to-one treatment where resources and circumstances dictate. However, it is strongly recommended that any adaptation have a carer group as a core component. Additionally, videotaping it utilized as an integral part of the Fun with Food approach to develop carer skills, and the clinician should access this facility if possible.
Essentially, the Fun with Food approach to averise oral eating is multi component and multidisciplinary, with emphasis placed on carer training. This facilitates the development of understanding of EDS aversion, generalization of skills and a hands-on approach to treatment.
