The Mindful Heart curriculum is the first mindfulness-based curriculum for Irish primary schools. The curriculum introduces evidence-based mindfulness and self-compassion practices to children using fun, creative and child-friendly methods. The curriculum contains 10 lesson plans which can be adapted to suit age ranges from junior infants to sixth class. The lessons contain detailed step-by-step instructions, mindfulness stories, colourful comic books, workbook pages and guided meditation scripts. An abundance of free online resources which are especially designed to accompany the curriculum including Mini Mindful Moments videos and guided audio meditations are included. The curriculum also focuses on supporting teachers to develop their own mindfulness and self-compassion practice. The Mindful Heart curriculum is a perfect support for schools who wish to promote positive mental health and well-being for both students and teachers alike and is aligned with the Irish Primary schools SPHE curriculum.
