NEW Reading Scheme for Struggling/Reluctant Readers
The ultimate literacy support – Created by exceptional publisher Essential Resources, Story Seekers are chapter books that engage struggling readers and fill in the gaps in their literacy knowledge. Captivate and intrigue your students with compelling plots, high-interest non-fiction topics and appealing images, while taking an integrated approach to literacy support. The Story Seekers books support struggling and reluctant readers by developing both their decoding and their comprehension skills. These multi-use literacy learning resources can be used for: Guided Reading, Independent Reading and/or to support students learning English as an additional language (EAL). Reading age: 6.5 to 8.0 / Interest Level: 8 to 12+

Currently, there are three stages:
- Stage 1 – for students aged 7.5 to 10.5+ with a reading age of 6.5 to 7 years-old
- Stage 2 – for students aged 8 to 11+ with a reading age of 7 to 7.5
- Stage 3 – for students aged 9 to 12+ with a reading age of 7.5 to 8.0
Stage 1 has 8 Pupil Readers, 8 equivalent Teacher Readers and 1 Teacher Photocopiable Activity Book with pre- and post-reading activities. The Teacher Reader has all that the pupil reader has, but also has prompt questions on each two-page spread which are coded C, V and/or D (Comprehension, Vocabulary, Decoding). The Teacher edition also differs by having a full page of Teacher Notes on the inside front cover and a full ‘Phonics Focus‘ page on the inside back cover.
Stages 2 and 3 each have 21 Pupil Readers, 21 equivalent Teacher Readers and 2 Teacher Activity Books with pre- and post-reading activities. The Stages are usually sold in bundles as follows:
- Starter Kits: Include: 1 copy of each of the student readers in each Stage, 1 copy of each of the equivalent teacher reader editions and the Teacher Activity Book(s) for each stage – Price: €135 for Stage 1 and €375 for Stage 2 & Stage 3 Starter Kit
- Class Packs: Includes: 6 copies of each of the student readers in each of the 3 stages, 1 copy of each of the equivalent teacher reader editions and the Teacher Activity Book(s) for – Price: €435 for Stage 1 and €1,150 each for Stages 2 and 3 Class Packs
- Combo Packs: Either the three Starter Kits (Stages 1, 2 & 3) or the three Class Packs (Stages 1, 2 & 3)
