 – A Functional Motor Programming Approach for Children With Developmental Verbal Apraxia

Using this manual, you can help children, ages 2 through 10 years, who are nonverbal or highly unintelligible due to developmental verbal apraxia and other articulation, phonological, or motor speech disorders.

Therapy practice is organized so that syllable structures gradually increase in length and complexity. Emphasis is placed on teaching functional spoken language through imitation and is reinforced with signs and pictures illustrated in the manual. The authors use a functional motor programming approach to therapy because it is undertaken in a naturalistic and practical environment.
