Drama is a powerful medium through which real-life situations can be explored. Through the use of process drama – drama which is not intended for an audience – students are provided with a safe environment to learn about human behaviour and develop an understanding of how and why people react in particular ways to given situations.

Using process drama, this is an exciting way for students to learn about New Zealand and it’s history. Each unit of work is based around the exploration of a picture book, story or photographs. The units have been written in a step-by-step format in order to guide those who are less confident with teaching drama. The units are set out with suggested teaching and learning sequences and ideas for assessment opportunities are provided.
